Trailing shield is the additional tool attached to the Welding Torch to protect hold welds from Contamination with Oxygen. Usually High Purity Argon gas is supplied in the trailing shields (apart from Shielding gas) Depending on the shape / geometry of the part to be welded, Fabricator need to select most appropriate Trailing Shield / Gas protection arrangement.
